Sean was the dear son of Jimmy and Julie Keaney of Milton, whom most of you will know as long time friends and members of our society.

Sean M. Keaney, age 51, of Stoughton, formerly of Milton and Quincy, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 5, 2020. He was the dear son of James N. and Julie T. Keaney of Milton. Loving brother to Jimmy Keaney and Corinne Getchell of Quincy, Gary and Lori Keaney of Stoughton, Denis and Christine Keaney of Stoughton, and Christine Keaney of Quincy. He was the loving uncle to Connor and Caitlin Ainsley of Quincy, Keira, Korynne and James Keaney of Stoughton, and Liam Keaney of Stoughton. Sean is also survived by many aunts and uncles and cousins, here and in Ireland and England.

Sean was an avid reader. He really enjoyed getting together for card games with his family and friends and also loved taking his nephews and nieces to the movies. He loved and thoroughly enjoyed his many trips to Ireland.

Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, Wednesday, November 11th from 3 to 7 pm. Due to current Covid 19 restrictions only 25 guests are allowed in the Funeral Home at a time. Please wear a mask and bring your own pen to sign the register book. A private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agatha Church, Milton, Thursday morning November 12th. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

September 2018 – Meeting Minutes & Updates

The 2018 Christmas Dance is December 9th at the ICC in Canton from 4-8pm. Music will be provided by Kathy and the Irish Americans. Please join us for a great evening.

We are looking into dates for another volunteer event at the Greater Boston Food Bank. Details will be shared at the October meeting.

Members need to renew their Membership for 2018 for the Society. Dues remain the same- $20 per family and $10 per individual member.

Margaret Cunningham, sister of Joe Clancy passed away in Ireland recently. We would like to extend our condolences to Joe and Geraldine on the loss of their sister. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

The next meeting will be held at the Adams Corner Cafe and Butcher Shop, 782 Adams Street, Dorchester, MA. on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018 at 7:30pm. All are welcome to attend and most of us arrive early for dinner. We’d like to thank the Adams Corner Café for the generous use of the back room for our meetings. They have been gracious hosts and the food is outstanding! You can have an Irish breakfast(with homemade Irish sausage) for dinner!!

Brendan Charles Gingras R.I.P.

We are very sorry to share the news that Brendan Charles Gingras son of Kathy Mawn and Stepfather Jimmy Mawn passed away tragically in a car accident on Friday, April 20th while traveling in Arizona with friends.

Brendan was only 28. Brendan will be waked on Thursday, April 26th from 4-8 PM at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home, 1248 Washington St., Norwood.

The Funeral Mass will take place on Friday at 11 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Norwood. Following the Mass, burial will take place at Mt. Benedict Cemetery.

GINGRAS, Brendan Charles age 28, of Norwood, MA, tragically passed away in a car accident on April 20, 2018 while traveling in Arizona with friends.

Brendan is survived by his loving parents: Kathleen (Maloney) Mawn and stepfather Michael “Jimmy” Mawn of Norwood, and Earl Gingras of Milton. Brother of twin, Daniel Gingras of Norwood, Philip Gingras and his fiancé Katie Basilotto of Plainville; his step-siblings: Michael and wife Karen Mawn of Walpole, Dennis Mawn, Joseph Mawn both of Norwood and Kerin (Mawn) Sullivan and her husband Mark of Wrentham.

Brendan was predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Allen “Pop Pop” and Catherine “Nana” (Murphy) Maloney of Norwood, Richard “Grandpa Dick” and Bjorg “Bestemor” Gingras of Milton. Brendan is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A 2007 graduate of Walpole High School, Brendan worked as a personal assistant to a professional disc golfer. Brendan’s work allowed him to fulfill his love for travel, nature, disc golf, music, and animals, especially dogs.

Upon overcoming his own challenges, Brendan developed a passion for aiding others who battle substance abuse issues, including facilitating access to treatment and a support network. Brendan will be remembered for his big heart and endearing personality.

Funeral from the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home 1248 Washington St. Norwood, Friday April 27, 2018 at 10am followed by a funeral mass at 11am in St. Catherine of Siena Church Norwood. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 4-8pm.

Following the funeral mass burial will be at Mt. Benedict Cemetery, Boston, MA. Patrick J. Mawn Jr., R.I.P.

We are very sorry to announce that Patrick J. Mawn Jr.(49) a long time friend and patron of the Leitrim Society of Boston, son of Glenfarne native Paddy Mawn, died suddenly due to illness on St. Patrick’s Day, 2018. Patrick was very fond of his Leitrim roots and regularly spoke of the great times he had spent there on vacation.

Patrick’s wake will be on Thursday, March 22nd from 4-8 PM. at the Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring Street, Whitinsville, MA. On Friday, March 23rd, the Funeral Mass will be at St. Patrick’s Church, 1 Cross Street, Whitinsville at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Northbridge – Patrick J. Mawn Jr. 49, of Mendon St. Blackstone, passed away on St. Patrick’s Day, Sat. March 17, 2018, at his home after being stricken ill.

He is survived by his 2 children Chloe S. Mawn of Northbridge, and Wesley A. Mawn of Douglas; his father Patrick J. Mawn Sr. of Whitinsville; his companion Marlene Saucier of Blackstone, with whom he lived; 2 brothers, Sean M. Mawn and his wife Holly of Northbridge, and Danny B. Mawn and his wife Stephanie of Whitinsville; a sister Erin M. Mawn and her fiancé Sean Madore of Webster; his former wife Heather M. McKeon Mawn of Douglas, and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He was predeceased by an infant brother Kevin Mawn, and he was son of the late Kathleen (Wynn) Mawn.

Patrick was born in Winchester, MA on September 23, 1968, and lived in Northbridge most of his life. He owned and operated P.J. Mawn Excavating Inc., working mostly out of Boston and the South Shore, which he loved. He also spent some time in Jupiter FL., working construction and chartering yachts. A graduate of Northbridge High School, Class of 1986, he was fun loving, generous to a fault, and would help anyone in need. He enjoyed the ocean, being outside, working, music, and his trips to Ireland. Family was most important to Patrick especially spending time with his children, and going out to lunch with his father.

His Funeral will be held from Jackman Funeral Home, 12 Spring St. Whitinsville on Fri. March 23 at 10 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thurs. March 22 from 4-8 PM. To continue Patrick’s legacy memorial donations may be made to the Patrick J. Mary Helen (Wynne) Vinciguerra, R.I.P.

Mary Vinciguerra of Randolph, MA, a longtime member of the Leitrim Society of Boston, passed away on November 20th. Please keep her daughter Anne Sicuranza and the rest of her family and friends in your prayers at this time.

Mary is being waked at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 North Main Street, Randolph from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Sunday, November 26th. The Funeral Mass is at 10am Monday, November 27th at St.Bernadette Church in Randolph. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph.

VINCIGUERRA, Mary Helen (Wynne) of Randolph, MA for 50 years, formerly from Neponset, passed November 20, 2017 at the age of 84. She is now reunited with her best friend & husband, Ralph V. Vinciguerra, of almost 50 years. Very proud mother of Anne Sicuranza & her best friend Butch of East Boston; Ralph Vinciguerra of New Hampshire; Judi Gosselin & her husband Mark of Melbourne, FL; and Mark Vinciguerra & his wife Ann Marie Vinciguerra of Mansfield, MA.

“Noni” to her special grandchildren Suzanne, Angela, Chris, Sean & his wife Louisa, Lauren, Todd & his wife Colleen, and Tanya. Great Grand Noni to Breigh, Tyler and Molly. She was the daughter of the late Owen & Anne (McTiernan) Wynne from County Leitrim, Ireland. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Owen Wynne. Dear sister in law of Margaret Wynne of Middleboro and the late Eileen Wynne. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Mary was a devoted member of the St. Bernadette’s Parish and served on the Parish Council. She was in the first group sanctioned to serve as a Eucharistic Minister at church services, hospitals and home visitations. Mary always had her special seat at the Beachcomber (Wollaston) to enjoy singing and dancing to Irish bands. She was a Noel Henry groupie and loved her weekends at the Irish Village in Cape Cod.

Mary’s most cherished times were shared with her family, relatives, many cousins and many friends. She was a member of the Boston Leitrim Society in Braintree, Irish Music Club and Irish Pastoral Center.

Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main Street, Randolph until 9:15AM on Monday followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Bernadette Church, Randolph. Patrick Murphy, R.I.P.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of Manorhamilton native Patrick Murphy, a friend and member of the Leitrim Society of Boston since our inception over 20 years ago.

The always smiling Patrick and his family attended many of our events over the years, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers at this time.

Patrick K. Murphy, age 53 of Quincy passed away suddenly August 7th at home. Born and raised in County Leitrim, Ireland, Patrick came to the United States in his early 20’s. He has lived in Quincy for many years and was a devoted father who enjoyed spending time with his children, walking, and swimming.

Patrick had a large circle of friends and was loved by everyone who knew him. Beloved husband of Mary H. (Manning). Father of Isabel, Aidan and Abigail Murphy all of Quincy. Brother of Seamus Murphy and his wife Maeve Costello of Donegal, Ireland, Michael Murphy and his wife Ann of Leitrim, Ireland, Deirdre O’Boyle and her husband Russell of Quincy and Noel Murphy and his wife Marie of Braintree. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and his four legged friends-Lily and Duke.

Peter Brendan Kenny, of Dorchester, died April 6, 2017 peacefully at home.

Beloved husband of 57 years Maureen (Faherty) Kenny of Dorchester. Loving father of Margie Ryan of Dorchester and her late husband Paul, Bernadette Kenny and her wife Lori Casinghino of Milton, Robyn Londergan of Quincy, Catherine Kenny of Braintree and her late husband Brendan P. McGrath, Mary (Mamie) Kenny and Antonio Maycott of Cambridge, Julie Foley and her husband Mark of Quincy and the late Michael B. Kenny.  Devoted brother of Sr. Inez Kenny and Donal Kenny both of Sligo Ireland, Frank Kenny of Georgia and the late Eileen Paulsen, Hugh Kenny and Terence Kenny. Cherished grandfather of Courtney and Joseph Dion, Maggie, Julie, Patrick, and Sammi Ryan, Michael, Richard, and John Londergan, Liam and Hugh McGrath, Julia McQuaid and Shannon Foley. Devoted Great Grandfather of Peter, Luke, and Maggie Dion. Peter is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends who will miss him dearly.

Peter was born and raised in his beloved Glenfarne, County Leitrim, Ireland. He first came to the United States in 1954 and served in the Unites States Navy as a proud member of the Seabees battalion. He was a member of the McKeon Post in Dorchester, Leitrim Society of Boston, Knights of Columbus, and the Irish Social Club. Peter loved his family who were the cornerstone of his entire life. He will be dearly missed by them and all who had the pleasure to have known him.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, Monday April 10 at 10:00 AM. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
